At Hua Cheng, our purpose extends far beyond the classroom — we care for the world our students will inherit, too. As a land-scarce island nation, Singapore doesn’t have the luxury of choosing between urbanization and greenery; going green within our built environment is a necessity, echoed in NParks’ “City in Nature” vision and the Singapore Green Plan 2030. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, our staff recently gathered for a “Go Green” art jamming session at Cafe de Paris, turning that spirit into brush and canvas.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Urban Stewards
This session builds on our CSR journey, following our 2025 Go Green Day at Coney Island. We hope it inspires our students, parents, and community to become active stewards of Singapore’s future — helping lead, in ways big and small, the vision of a greener nation for generations to come.
Painting Greenery Where It's Needed Most
On 6 July, our team traded lesson plans for paintbrushes at Cafe de Paris. Surrounded by the mall’s concrete and glass, they painted not what stood in front of them, but the greenery they held in their minds — a deliberate choice, since greenery in Singapore often can’t wait for open land; it has to be imagined into the spaces we already occupy.
Art as Translation for Urban Sustainability
Frameworks like the Green Plan 2030 can feel abstract — targets, masterplans, infrastructure. Art makes that vision personal. Each canvas at Cafe de Paris told a different story: a lakeside scene, golden blossoms, birds tracing a sunset — proof that a greener Singapore looks different in every mind, yet points toward the same future.
Loving Nature, Loving Eco-Friendliness
Every stroke was a small act of mindfulness — a reminder that caring for the planet starts with how we choose to see it, even from within a busy city.
Using 100% eco-friendly, non-toxic acrylics on sustainably sourced canvases, our team spent an immersive three-hour session painting nature-themed works.
